Who goes there?

Life as a metaphor. Educator and writer connecting experiences to truth since 1976.
Driven by a love of writing and devotion to language, I’ve been teaching and writing from Virginia to San Francisco to Central America to Boston and now Wilmington. (The North Carolina one.)
Writing, workshopping, journalism, desktop publishing, creative writing magazines, producing and voicing a morning radio show, publishing a book of found poetry, and compiling an anthology of student fan fiction… a few of my favorite things.
After work I drop my backpack and run clumsily into the arms of my kids. I know what song to play for my wife in case of emergencies, and whenever it’s contextually appropriate I surf. Here’s my neutrally buoyant surf log.
